Launching GenMarie's HodgePodge

Big news! I have rejoined creative forces with my good friend Christine of GenMarie. Together we are working on the launch of her new line HodgePodge.

First though, a few things I need to share;

That I am ever so grateful to have met some of the most magically talented individuals on the planet. I mean that with all of my heart.

That I totally & passionately love what I do no matter how late I have to stay up to get the work done.

True friends are hard to come by so don't let them go... ever.

Okay, about this fabulous clothing line to be launched on Monday November 9th. What can I say? HodgePodge has been beautifully created with the best designer fabrics on the market. The knits are soft, luxurious and offered in rich tdf colors. The designs are new, original, classic, feminine, trendy & gorgeous! Christine is talented. I know her well. She has an eye for color and style that cannot be duplicated.

Christine has created this small line as a symbolic relaunch of GenMarie. It is all being manufactured in-house with the best commercial machines and seamstresses in New York.

I've been busy creating a new site, blog and will be working on the customer service side of things. Once the line is complete it will all be shipped to me to package and mail to customers. I will be handling any and all customer service questions or issues.

Christine and I have been working together for years and are a great creative fit as far as style, quality standards & passion for this business. Plus we are great friends. I am so excited to be a part of this beautiful endeavor & I cannot wait until 11/09/09! See you there.

To all of my current web/graphic customers - This will not delay your new site or project. I am on time and have jobs scheduled within reasonable intervals.

To new customers - I am currently scheduling for January for blog designs only. I am not taking any new custom web design projects until March.

Mia Joie

Don't these little shoes make your heart sing? I adore the work of Jessica Haley aka the designer of Mia Joie. Guess what? Jessica and I just finished redesigning the Mia Joie blog. She is also a very talented photographer with a beautiful portfolio of designs. Jessica wanted to showcase her work in a slideshow so she put together collages of her work & I created a workable blogger slideshow. Yes, I'm very proud. For all of you nerdies out there... it is all javascript and completely editable in a blogger widget. How cool is that?

Please go check out the Mia Joie blog then come back and tell me what you think.

My Favorite Creative Tools

I've gotten so many emails from people who want to create graphics of their own for fabric design, embroidery patterns, t-shirts, stationary & print etc. I thought I'd share some of my favorite tools ;) This is a wireless Wacom pen tablet. It's the exact one I have and sort of on the cheaper end (under $200), tablets range from $50 to $1000+. I researched for a long time before buying this particular one. It is wireless which I like and has a nice sized work area. You can also lift the cover and place a drawing into the tablet to trace, pretty cool!

It's easy once you get the hang of drawing on your lap while looking at the pc screen. It took me a couple of hours to get comfortable with that part. I'd compare it to training yourself not to look at the keyboard while you type.

Of course, the price was a big selling point. I wanted to try a pen tablet before investing too much money. I thought if I didn't like it not a huge loss or if I loved it I could trade up later. Honestly, this one works great and I'll probably keep using it instead of buying the more expensive version.
